400-Unit, Rahusa Housing Estate, GRA Kaduna, Nigeria
Description:
This is a low income housing estate in the heart of the Government Reserved Area in Kaduna. The site location within the GRA was made possible, courtesy of Governor El-Rufai, during his administration, as the Governor of the state
The design of the unit is flexible. The standard 2-bedroom unit can easily convert to a 3-bedroom unit, by a simple extension of a rear wall under the entire incised roof. Each Building block features four proto-type units sharing common walls. The build blocks are arranged on the site in a grid-iron network format, and totalling 400nos.
The architectural facade of the low income housing unit is regional, and reflects Hausa trading architecture. The planning of typical units also reflect the cultural practices of the region, however amendable to suit other typical social lifestyles.
