


Civil Service Quarters (originally Greenville Estate), Port-harcourt Township, Rivers State
Description:
The civil service quarters sits in the heart of port-harcourt township and directly aborting the terminal bus stop in the old city centre. It is a mass housing scheme accommodation within a 2500sqm of rectangular land, and aborted on all sides by municipal roads in one direction. The micro estate feature three blocks of residential accommodation on ground and three suspended floors. Each block contains 8nos. 3-bedroom flats, planned on either side of a central and escape hall, which forms the line of bilateral symmetry of the building.
The flats feature three ensuite bedrooms, mediums size family lunge, kitchen and store. The kitchens exit into the escape staircase at the rear of the blocks.
The general external physiognomy parades a modular configuration of all facade elements, and also consideration for location of air-conditioners. The presentation is simple and straight forward with particular attention to delivery cost at design conception stage. Easily accessible maintenance points are also highlights of this simple and functional housing scheme designed to be replicated in other parts of Rivers state for the Rivers State Government.
