First Baptist Church, Ikeja-Lagos

Project Description:

This project sits on a corner street at the intersection of Seidu Ajibowu and Olowu streets respectivelly. The Ecclesiastic structure is bilaterally symmetrical on its latitudinal facade along church street, and features a 1500 capacity auditorium on first and a galleried floor. On its topmost floor are offices for the operation on the entire building.

The ground floor accommodates the youth and children's worship arm/centre of the church.

The church's immediate environment celebrates an active vehicular and pedestrian design to facilitate efficient manoeuvres of vehicles and worshipers around the building.

Services of toilets and storages are smartly incorporated at the rear blank end of the building, while delibrate play of finishes, colors and form and shapes together distinguish the building's gorgeous external physiognomy.

Whatsmore! The cruciform and emblem of the Christian faith (The Cross) is dominantly paraded at the corner end of the structure and visible to all comers, worshipers alike.

The building interior demonstrates the play of light and volumes with emphasis on the altar, about which all interior spaces revolve.

Sky lit roof finishes and material usage could also be seen vertically overhead the altar and baptistry area, placing emphasis on the core value and practice of the Baptist faith.

Indeed an architectural design with premium emphasis on the holistic celebration of our Lord Jesus Christ.
