The Royal Emir’s Office, Oba-Oba, Ilorin Kwara State Nigeria

Description:

This Islamic edifice is the corporate office of His Royal Highness, The Emir of Ilorin. The brief was issued by the Emirates Council of Nigeria.

The site location is a cleared portion  of land, adjacent to the Iconic Ilorin Central Mosque. The structure is a blend of islamic, Arabian and traditional northern Nigeria Architectural features. Golden and Royal islamic identity also formed a distinguishing pride of this building.

The design features The Office Of His Royal Highness on its recessed Pent floor, and other emirate offices on the lower floors. The office and space interaction is a product of study of the Ilorin Emirate Organogramme, and also functions of the different designations of the organisation.

On the ground floor is a large banquet hall, and directly accessed via a wide helical open stair case that is domed at its top. A large and symbolic  partially sky-lit Arabian dome is adopted at the intersection of the L-shaped building, and opens into a large void area. Smaller partial domes also adorn the peri-peri of the building at its topmost floor.

The ends of the building terminates with the reflection of the regional location of the building, as such feature characteristic Arewa (Islamic Northern Nigeria) traditional Architectural facade.

The building is aborted by a well landscaped and multi-lingual signaged car park, and merely compliments the landscape of the adjoining Iconic central  mosques that symbolises Ilorin Township.

Terraces for public views around the building is also a dominant character of this Iconic design.
